Raspberry Romance

Raspberry Romance slowly courted me over many years before I decided she needed to be introduced. Despite being placed in a section of garden which didn't receive quite enough sun, she continually put up tall, elegant scapes on which bloomed beautiful watermarked, pink flowers. I love her pale pink watermark, slightly sculpted green to yellow throat and her delicate, pinkish white edge. She is diamond dusted and has petals and sepals that are recurved.

Tet, 38" scapes, 7-7.5" flowers, 5-7 way branching, 20+ buds per scape, blooms mid-season, semi-evergreen.

Black Flash

What I love most about Black Flash is that he never seems to have a bad day. His color is consistently rich and un-spotted, he opens beautifully, and he always emits a glowing, flash of bright yellow green light from his throat. On cool days his face is a wine-purple black, and on warmer, dry days his dark eye contrasts with a slightly lighter deep purple.

Tet, 30" scapes, 6.5" flowers, 3-4 way branching, 15-20 buds per scape, blooms early-mid season, semi-evergreen.

I suppose a daylily can't go wrong when it has an Emmerich as a parent. In this case, Emmerich's 'Peace Offering' dominates The Grape Avenger's phenotype, showing off a chalky, lavender eye, a rich, magenta-purple self, and a lemon-green throat that matches a frilly lavender and lemon edge.

Tet, 28" scapes, 6.5" flower, 3-4 way branching, 15-20 buds per scape, blooms mid-season, semi-evergreen.

The Grape Avenger

Mint Cream

My favorite aspect of Mint Cream is the flower's thick, rich substance. Even on very dry, hot days it appears cool and moist, with a creamy white-pink self, lime-green throat, and a lemon-yellow, heavily ruffled edge.

Tweedlebug

Tweedlebug is named in honor of the Twiddlebug family of Muppet fame. The flower's colors and cuteness reminds me of them, with their high-pitched voices and lemon-green eyes. Tweedlebug has a variety of different faces, but she is always several interesting shades of bluish-purple, and she always has extraordinary diamond-marked sepals. She increases rapdidly, resists rust, and isn't finicky about where she is placed in the garden.

Sweet Pretty Darling

Does the daylily world need another pale pink, dormant dip? Probably not... But Sweet Pretty Darling is such a sweet, pretty darling! I could not help my desire to introduce her to the daylily world. She has a lovely lime green throat that stretches into a white-pink self. She is always pristine, always delicate, sweetly scented, and she flowers all season long.
