The Purple Bandito
The Purple Bandito is my favorite 2025 introduction. He is butter yellow with a huge, glowing, bright indigo eye outlined in a delicate reddish purple. He increases well and is fertile both ways. Although he is has evergreen foliage, he is hardy in zone 6a.

When I was young, my grandomther often allowed me to help as she made my favorite dessert, Pompadour Pudding. It is in honor of both my grandomother and that fabulous custardy treat that I introduce Madame Pompadour! She is one frilly and lush babe. At times she is near white with faint pink overtones. At other times she sports a yellow and pink bitone with a thick, lemon piecrust edge. She blooms mid- season in Massachusetts and is fertile both ways.
Tet, 25-26" scapes, 6.5" inch flower, three-way branching, 20-25 buds per scape, evergreen.

I can't help it; the colors of this daylily call to mind that silly (and kind of creepy) MacDonald's clown so much that I began calling it that in my mind long before I decided to introduce him to the world. Ronald MacDonald is a robust, distinctive plant, with yellow petals, a huge, tomato red eye, a yellowish-green throat and a dual colored, frilly edge of red and yellow. He blooms midseason for many weeks and nearly always reblooms in September. Fertile both wasys.

The first time this daylily bloomed I nearly swooned. The pattern reminded me of the most magical spin art. I love the pale yellow petals against the rippling pattern of raspberry, grey and blue. It is breathtaking! I admit that not every bloom is equally spectacular, but they are all unique and beautiful.
Tet, 29-31" scapes, 3-4 way branching, 6.5-7" flowers, 20-25 buds per scape, semi-evergreen.

Every bloom of Underworld is a deep, velvety, glowing purple. I've had many handsome dips born out of Velvet Handcuffs, but this might be the best of all of them. It's named for Hades' sunless realm of the dead, the Underworld, which I imagine to be a vast glowing, dark.
Dip, 35-37" inch scapes, 4-5 way branching, 8" blooms, 20-25 buds per scape, dormant.

Alpha Draconis is a star in the galaxy of Draco, 270 light years from Earth, which served as the North Star for the ancients. In my garden, Alpha Draconis performs like that glowing, distant star. Its star-shaped, neon yellow eye fades into its large, spatulate, black-red petals and sepals. It is a huge plant, with towering scapes and five to six way branching. Although I have never been able to get it take seed, it is pollen fertile.
Dip, 37-39" scapes, 5-6 way branching, 8" blooms, 30-35 buds per scape, dormant.
